Ok, I know most of you have been waiting on this ALLLLLL DAY!!! Well here they are! ;)
I decided that my long hair HAD TO GO, it was just much too annoying...So I visited Tara at the FABULOUS Spa Romona in Sugar Land, TX and chopped off 11 inches of hair...Yes, you read that correctly...ELEVEN inches...it was shorter (ok MUCH shorter) than I had anticipated...but it's cute and it grows out quickly...Oh! And I got an awesome new color technique called "peek-a-boo" I think??? Tara, correct me if I'm wrong!! :) Anyhow, the color looks much more awesome in person, so you're all going to have come visit me!!! :) Excuse the crappy "before" pics...my little point and shoot is having issues....

So,we started...with three ponies because my hair is uber thick and they had to cut it with regular scissors! BWHAHAHA! :)

Then I had dinner with my uber-cute soon to be bride for SUSHI!! YUM! Kristy, I had a blast with you!! Aren't we cute???

Robyn and Jon in VEGAS baby!

Last week Mike and I went back to my hometown of VEGAS to photograph Robyn and Jon's AMAZING wedding at the BEAUTIFUL JW Marriott

The day started off beautifully as Robyn got her make-up done by the wonderful Megan from Makeup in the 702

and of course we can't forget the shoes!

Miss K REALLY enjoyed being a photographer that day...after seeing me get down on the ground for a shot, all her shots were from this perspective...

While I had fun with the girls, Mike of course, shot the boys!

Yes, this is the infamous "Mike almost got thrown in jail" shot...If you're really interested in the story, let me know and I'll fill you in! :)

I headed out to do some shots of Robyn and Jon before the Tea Ceremony start

I got this "Hollywood" shot of the boys...they're so gangsta!! :p

We moved on and started the traditional Chinese tea ceremony.

I love the emotion in this shot of Robyn and her grandmother.

After the tea ceremony, Robyn changed into her beautiful Lazaro dress

and then Robyn and Jon's FIRST LOOK! You all know how much i LOVE FIRST LOOKS!!

Of course, by this time the ceremony was about to start!

It was an amazing ceremony with tears and laughter...oh there was laughter...Robyn was giving her heartfelt, lovely vows when she slipped up! And of course, her reaction to her oops!

After the ceremony, I took a couple of minutes to get some bridal party shots...

LOVE this one!!

Ok, so funny story about this...Y'all recognize adorable Miss K, the flower girl...So I was trying to keep her occupied (AKA out of the way) while I shot the bridal party, so I got Robyn's flowers and set them on my ThinkTank and told Miss K to "Watch these flowers ok sweetie? Make sure they don't fall and that no one takes them ok? Can you do that for me?" With a solemn nod and a resolute turn, she watched the flowers...She watched the flowers like this for about 5 minutes while I photographed the bridal party...Oh how I wish everyone listened to me this well!!

Yes folks...Pick your jaws up off the floor...it's ANOTHER blog post from me!! :)

I just got back from New Orleans... and I do have to say I love the city..the sights, the sounds, the smells...ok well not so much the smells, altho sometimes standing outside a restaurant it smelled REALLY good...

My girl, DJ who was the awesome model for this session took us to a great "local" place for some burgers and OMG were they AMAZING! Port of Call Seriously, if you are EVER in NOLA...go in for a burger!! They don't have any veggie options...it's a steak/burger place...but oh-so-yummylicious!!

ooohhh, off on a tangent...time to get back to my train of thought...

This is featuring an awesome night session that I photographed in the awesome French Quarter...(I really need to figure out a synonym for awesome don't I???)

Yep, you're probably wondering why I, the queen of all the bugbites in the world, would say that I had fun with MOSQUITO'S?!?!?

Ok, so you got me...it wasn't REALLLLLY with mosqutios...it was actually the Great Clute Mosquito Festival

I know what you're thinking...Ok I don't know what you're thinking, because quite honestly I don't know what I was thinking going to this thing...

But surprisingly...it was pretty fun!!

We've figured out that Cody is the long lost Jonas Brother

This place had the BEST homemade lemonade...Seriously, it was delicious and there was only one guy in the booth; cutting lemons by hand, squeezing them by hand and then shaking it all up! It was impressive...and we can't forget this hottie mchotterson...

We turned around and angels started singing...well, Cody and Mike heard angels...all I saw was this sign...

As you can see, Mike was slightly excited...and Cody had to show off his delish lemonade...

And seriously, who gives away free Copenhagen??? Apparently, the people at the Clute Mosquito Festival...Yep! Look at how escatic I look!! I mean really! It's a damn shame, I don't dip...or chew...or whatever the hell this stuff is...

But THIS stuff...if you ever get the chance to have any of this stuff...GO FOR IT!!!

I know, I know...you're skeptical...but really...Look at how yummy it looks!

I mean, powdered sugar on fried yummines?? Can't be bad!!

When Mike and I first started dating, he sent me this song,so it has a special place in my heart...(altogether now...Awwwwww)I managed to finagle my way up to the front in time to capture this and I'm glad I did!

All in all, I had a SUPER good time and not even one little bug bite!!! (Considering I singlehandley keep OFF in business)

Fire Ants-1, Suzy-0

Yes folks...I've been formally intorduced to those little buggers(altho I would like to use a much fouler name for these things, I'll refrain...little eyes might be reading??? bah...who am I kidding, only my dad reads the blog..even at that, it's only when I tell him to!!!) called "fire ants"..Yep, fire ants...Now, most of you know that I'm from Vegas...

Being a Vegas girl, I only THOUGHT I had fire ants...My fire ants were big and red and only when you seriously pissed them off, would they come after you...

Well, today after getting some much desired chow mein, I was getting the food out of the car and apparently had stepped RIGHT into a fire ant bed...Apparently,they didn't appreciate that?? (Who knew stepping onto a fire ant was a bad idea??)
So imagine this scene: Mike is leaving a voicemail, I have my hands full with Chinese takeout and my right foot is on FIRE (hey, maybe THAT'S why they're called fire ants???) and I start hopping on one foot, crying (yes, I admit, I cried...I'm a girl, I'm allowed!!) STILL holding onto the food. Mike FINALLY realizes why I'm crying and hopping around like a crazy woman and he gets them off.

Ever the photographer, I had to document this first in Texas...my first fire ant bites...

I have a sexy foot...I know...and I need a pedicure...I know that too...

I am currently drowning my foot in Benadryl spray and gel and it looks better...but it's not 100%.

So there you have it folks...my first ant bites...speaking of firsts...I've got first hurricane pics as well..but will save that for another post...

Leave some sympathy for me in the form of blog comments, it'll be mucho appreciated...(since I'm a baby and had to blog about my awesome fireant bites...)

WHOA! It's a record!!

TWO posts BACK to BACK!!! Shocking! I know!! :) But I'm pretty proud of myself...

(Mom and Dad...BRACE yourselves!!) I MADE DINNER!!! I KNOW, right???

I can follow basic recipes, but I HATE (and I repeat HATE cleaning up) but I sucked it up and COOKED!!!

I marinated chicken breasts in a mixture of yogurt, lime and honey. Coated them with crushed Ritz crackers and baked...Some brown rice with some peas mixed in and I've got myself DINNER!! :) No one is dead (yet...) and Mike even said it was pretty good! (I'm pretty sure he wasn't lying...well, hopefully not! :) )

Food photographer I am not - but here is my delicious meal!!

If anyone wants the recipe, holla at me and I'll post it. I pretty much winged it and made it up, so I'm all kindsa excited that I actually wrote down what I did!! :)

Mom and Dad, you can pick your jaw up off the floor!! :)

Next on the agenda, some sort of tequila lime cream sauce for chicken...(thanks Jordan!! BOO!) We'll see what I come up with!!

Blogging before a month is up!! :) You should be oh-so-proud...Anyhow, I just returned from the Northwest Wedding Extravaganza with my super good friend and bicoastoal heterosexual life companion KacyJo...Altho, now that I've moved to Te-jas...we need to figure out what the "Bi-coastal" should be changed to...Any suggestions??

Anyhow, the "extravaganza" was no joke...4 weddings in 10 days with HEINOUS flights in and out of Oregon and ridiculous experiences with TSA both in Houston and Portland...If you really want to know, ask...it's slightly ridiculous...

So I'm blogging one of the weddings...don't ask why I am blogging this one first...just happened that way I guess...

We HAVE to stop meeting like this! I'm a horrible horrible blogger...I have a bunch of things to post but never get time to do it...

I've been busy here in Te-jas...TriCoast is delving deep into the high school senior market, so I've been uber busy photographing HS girls that look older than me...It's pretty busy awesome...(insert sarcasm here)

Anyhow, since my last post was about my wonderful mama for Mother's Day...I think it's only fitting that my next post should be about my Daddy for Father's Day (that and the fact that I'm a lame-o and can't update my blog???)

So I thought it might be fun to take a stroll down memory lane and post some images of my daddy and I when I was itty bitty...Sadly, these are all the photos I have of my dad and I...(NOTE TO CLIENTS!! DON'T LET THIS HAPPEN TO YOU!!!)

The next time I go home, we're taking family pictures (you hear me MOM and DAD?!?!?)

After looking at these pictures and becoming nostalgic...I've realized that my parents pretty much look the same to this day...My dad has a bit of a pot belly and I've given him some gray hair...But he looks he same...and my mom...good lord, if all woman aged as well as my mother there would be no money in plastic surgery!!! She's changed her hairstyle...but that's about it! And well me...I think I've just gotten slightly taller??? :)

So, I'm a lame-o...I've come to terms with it...and a very bad blogger...but I promise...many updates from me soon to come!!

But on THIS day..this of all days, I needed to update my blog and give a big shout out to my mama!!!

As I've gotten older, I've come to the realization that my mom was and still to this day IS Superwoman! (You didn't know that Superwoman was really a tiny Korean lady huh???) Growing up the woman worked 8-10 hours a day, then came home and cooked a hot dinner for my father and I. I'm not talking about a frozen-pizza-thrown-into-the-oven type of dinner (not saying that that is a bad thing as that's my dinner most nights anyhow...):) But she would make some sort of protein (Steak, chicken fish) veggies (I found out recently that my mother did not like broccoli...we had A LOT of broccoli growing because ya know heaven forbid I not like broccoli. My mother's thinking that is I need to eat broccoli because it's good for me! BWHAHA! I'm so glad because I LOVE broccoli!!! Ok but point being...I love my mama!!

Yes, ladies and gentlemen, it is true. The older you get, the more you appreciate and love your parents. This rings oh-so-true for me. Growing up, my mother and I didn't have the best of relationships. I'm so very happy that that has changed for the better.

When I last was in Vegas I hung out with my parents for a bit before I came home.

I took some pictures of my parents dogs. When I think of my parents, these dogs are what I think of next. Especially my mama's dog. Angel.

So enjoy mama. I love you!! I hope you have (had) a great Mothers Day!!

Those that don't know me very well, don't know that my parents own a Baskin Robbins back home.:)

I was raised in a Baskin Robbins. I luuuuuuuuuuuuurrrrrrrrrvvvvvvvveeeeee ice cream...Seriously...

I never had a babysitter, I didn't do pre-school. I was RAISED in a Baskin-Robbins. I hung out in the backroom of the store doing workbooks and the regular customers loved me, and I would go and "entertain" them (those that know me, know this is very very true ;) )

Anyhow, I loooooooveeeee my ice cream...It's a DANG good thing that I'm asian and have a high metabolism or else I'd be 5000 lbs...

So everytime I go home, I gorge myself on ice cream at my paretns BR...My dad knows how much I love ice cream and chocolate, so when BR came out with the my MOSTEST favorite flavor EVER...MISSISSIPPI MUDD (a mixture of dark and milk chocolate, with a fudge ribbon and brownie chunks) he bought extra tubs just for ME!! :)

Last time I went home and gorged myself on Mississippi Mudd, I had a little friend visit me...and he wanted some of my ice cream!!! (no matter, how much I love you...I don't share ice cream very well...)

For all you southern folks...Del Taco is a west coast thing :) Think Taco Bell, but much much much MUCH better! :)

Those that are very close to me know how much I big, puffy heart Del Taco. When I moved to Tampa, I was heartbroken to find out that they didn't have a Del Taco. I mean, SERIOUSLY heartbroken. It was almost a deal breaker for me. Almost...

Anyhow, have I mentioned that I heart Del Taco??? :) So when I go home to Vegas, I eat Del Taco every chance I get...

So without further ado...My obsession with Del Taco...

Hello all you beautiful people! I sat here and hemmed and hawed over this blog. I hesitated to post about my newest adventure, I thought it might be a bit too personal and what not. But I figured, you come to my blog not only to look at my images that I capture, but to get to know me and my personality a bit. So...onwards and upwards!

I've started working out...That's the story in a nutshell. Now, you might be thinking to yourself, (as one fabulous Lori Nordstrom pointed out) "um yeah. you are like "this" big... skinny girl - where are you going to loose any fat?" (yeah, and everyone needs to go check out miss Lori because she is not one to talk...she's had like 3 kids and looks AMAZING!)

Anyhow...yes, I am slender. BUT (and it's a big one) I'm not healthy, I'm not fit. I'm VERY out of shape. I get huffy when I walk a flight of stairs. And all my wedding shooters out there can attest that a wedding day is a BIG workout. You're down, you're up...you're getting in weird positions to get THE shot. And for that you need MUSCLE! You need to be flexible (or bendy, as I like to put it :) hehehe.)
And bendy and muscles are not something Suzy is in posession of!!!

I'm sick of it! So I joined a gym and got myself a trainer. Yes, a real life person to tell me how and when to workout and to yell (ok, yell is a harsh word, they don't yell as so much as ummm...enccourage loudly...how's that???) at me and push me. I went in a few days ago and got all my measurments and got my body fat %...it's (insert drumroll here) 25%!! ICK!!! GROSS!!! My trainer looked at me after that and said, "Yeah, uhhh...you're what we call "skinny fat" I laughed, but it's so very true! I'm JIGGLY!! (and only the Pillsbury Dough Boy can get away with that!!)

So here I am...Jiggly, skinny fat girl...Out there for everyone to see...I'm going to do this. I'm going to get in SHAPE and start living HEALTHY. :) My promise to you guys!

I bet you're wondering how this ties into photography huh? Well, I touched on it briefly earlier. Your wedding day. You might think "My wedding day? How is that possible?" Think about it. On average, it's an 10-12 hour day...Most of that is standing, or walking, or crouching down or getting into funky positions to get THAT shot. And not only are we doing all of the above, we are usually carrying at least one camera, with a battery grip, possibly a flash and a lens...and depending on the lens, you're looking at carrying around at LEAST another 10 lbs...PLUS camera bags and laptops....So at the end of the day, I'm sore. Like can't-get-out-of-bed-muscles-are-dead sore. And once again...I'm sick of it!! I want to enjoy your wedding day as much as you and NOT be sore afterwards!! That is my goal :)

So I'm going grocery shopping, I'm going to start eating healthier and I'm working out at least 3 times a week. Self.com has a GREAT grocery list that I'm printing out and taking with me!!

Bringing Sexy Back...

The uber-talented Kimberly Hill bugged...errr..."tagged" me to update my blog...so Africa pictures have been posted...Amsterdam pictures will be posted tonight...but for right now...you are going to learn 8 (EIGHT??? I dunno if I've got EIGHT useless facts about me...or come to think about...maybe LIMIT them to eight???) random useless facts about me...

1. I love chocolate...dark chocolate...the darker the better...recently, I was introduced to Harry and David dark chocolate truffles...and by George...I was in luuuuuurrrrrrvvvvvvvveeeee...

2. Orange is my favorite color. Has been since I was 12 and stocked up on everything orange around Halloween time, because that's the only time the stores carried anything orange...

3. I skipped 2nd grade. Well, technically...the last half of my 1st grade year was spent between the two...the next year, I registered for 3rd grade...you would think I'm smart...but it's been ALLLLLLL downhill from there...

4. I was a student council nerd in high school. 2nd VP of my school and 4A VP of the state of Nevada (I was in charge of all the 4A schools in NV...at the time about 35???)

5. I love to dance...Anywhere, everywhere...if there's music...I'm dancing...Be warned...if you embarass easily make sure there is no music playing...

6. I sometimes get the overwhelming desire/urge/need to skip places...that's right...skip...as in what you did when you were like 5 and on the playground...

7. I love cow print....as in the black and white milk cows...yes...

8. Since you now know that I was in student council, I love to dance and cow print...you should know...I won my state student council election wearing fuzzy cow printed pants, doing the running man and rapping to "Ice, Ice Baby"...Alright stop, collaborate and listen...Suzy's back with an all new edition..." Yeah, I know...Impressive!!

Yes, I know...I'm a total loser...but here are some Africa images. I was fortunate enough to tag along with the great guys of TriCoast Photography when they were commissioned to photograph the wedding of the son of the VP of Uganda in July.

This was one of those few rare experiences in your life where you come back forever changed. It's totally cliche, but I was totally humbled by the lifestyle of the people there. One realizes how spoiled and wasteful most Americans are.

How they carried things...

The children of Africa. How beautiful are these bright shiny kids??? I think this was my favorite part of the trip...seeing the children.

Now...these next three images are near and dear to my heart....I have to preface these images with an explanation...

Mike and I took a walk one day to Kampala and I wanted pictures of children...REAL ya know like African kids...call me stupid...call me silly...but I did...I had some candy in my pocket. Jolly Ranchers and Hershey's Nuggets...and I figured...while we walked, I would inevitably see some children...and maybe if I got lucky, they'd let me take a picture and I could give them some candy or "sweets" as they called them...

These children were so sweet. Thanked me again and again...brought tears to my eyes...

This is my FAVORITE all time image of this trip...this little boy was ADORABLE...his little sister (which you can see in the background) wanted NOTHING to do with me...but she totally wanted the candy...I held my hand out...gave him some candy and he gave me this look in return...

Now, this image...Remember I had Jolly Ranchers in my pocket...this was taken the same day, and all I had was one Jolly Rancher left...All of us had gone to downtown Kampala to exchange some currency...I stayed in the car and saw this litle girl in what should have been the median, but what was really just a very narrow piece of cement...This little girl, holding her very newborn baby sister, crossed four lanes of traffic to get to me in hopes that I would give her some money...like I said...all I had was this one Jolly Rancher....Broke my heart that all I could give to this precious little angel was candy, but she was grateful....

I'll leave off with sunsets in Africa...nothing spectacular...but how many of YOU can say that you've seen the sunset in Africa??? :p hehehehe!!!

Yep, so I heard!!! I'm through to the next round!!! I have to sign a BUNCH of paperwork - Non Disclosure Agreements (NDA), emergency contact info...stuff like that...

So....what does this mean?? Well, just that...I'm through to the next round...NOT on the show (yet :p) I won't know if I got on the show or not for a bit...But I'm leaving for Africa on Sunday...so hopefully I hear before then!! :)

Suzy = New Reality Show Star????

So whatcha think?? Think I have what it takes?? :) Let me back up and start from the beginning...

July 2nd I read a post on one of my photography forums about this new reality show that they are filming about hey guess what?!? PHOTOGRAPHERS!! :) You can read a little more about it HERE. Anyhow, so I read the post and decide, for kicks and giggles, might as well apply!!! That was at about 2 pm. So I e-mailed the needed information to the casting director and to my surprise...get an e-mail about 2 hours later, inviting me to audition on July 3rd...in LA...that's Los Angeles...as in California...as in the West Coast...as in the OPPOSITE of where I'm at...I sigh and say "Hey, I'm flattered that they wanted me to audition. I'm happy with that." Because of course, there's no freaking way that I could get to LA in less than 24 hours, right??

WRONG...I start telling this story to my best friend Mike Fulton of TriCoast Photography and good friend, Tim of What Is Tim Co and they've decided that I'm going...whether I like it or not...:) Fast forward, MIDNIGHT (technically July3rd) I have a ticket booked to LA. Leaving Tampa at 7AM, arriving in LA at 10AM. Audition at 3pm. Departing CA 9pm and arriving BACK IN TAMPA 6:30AM, July 4th. Yes folks you read that correctly... I was only in Cali for about 11 hours!!! (Sidenote: Anyone that knows me, knows I LOVE ME SOME DEL TACO!!!! Sadly, Floridians are not blessed with Del Taco...So ya'll DAMN WELL know that I COULD NOT go to the west coast w/o scarfing down some yum-yum, delicious big, fat chicken tacos!! I would have taken some pics, but I was ravenous and really was only interested in consuming the yumminess that is Del Taco)
Anyhow...I arrive in Ontario, CA which is about an hour east of LA (think San Bernadino and Rancho Cucamonga) I call my favorite cousin Kim and tell her that I'm in town and the reason for my impromptu visit. I find out that her apt is literally 10 mins away from my audition!!! Now mind you, in my e-mail response I was told to "come looking good and to bring examples of my work" so I had NO IDEA what to expect...
I tried working on the first part of that statement...and the 2nd well....my cousin Kims' AWESOME graphic design hubby, Jawsh rocked it and printed out 6 of my fave images on his Epson and armed me with a protfolio!!
Going into the audition, I was slightly nervous (and by slightly I mean, I think I had Dumbo and all of his friends doing the elephant electric slide in my tummy!!)
Never fear though!! I did pretty well and I think my chances are pretty good of getting chosen!!!
SO KEEP YOUR FINGERS CROSSED!!!!!!!!!!! :)

Guess who's in JAMAICA!?!??!

that's right!!! ME!!! :) WOOOHOOOO!!!! I landed in Jamaica a couple of days ago with good friends - Tim Co, Joshua Smith of Cinematic Bride (only the BEST videographer in the world!!) and amazing talent out of Oregon, KacyJo.

We've been having an AMAZING time here and it's SO much fun to be here with people that I enjoy!! :)

We'll be shooting a FABULOUS wedding here at http://www.tensingpen.com/ on Saturday. Here's some (ok, ok ALOT of pictures) that don't even do JUSTICE to this place!!

Now mind you...most of these were taken while in the backseat of a CAR driving 80 kilometers on the WRONG side of the road!!! (The jamaican drivers here are SLIGHTLY crazy...)

So....ENJOY!! :)

Some of the GORGEOUS greenery and sky...and CLOUDS!!! (You have to remember...even though I live in Florida and I should be used to it...I'm not! I'm still a Vegas girl at heart and GREEN just AMAZES me!!! As does clouds...yes, I'm weird...I know! :) )

The way they still dry their clothes here. I'm a spoiled American, I realize. Things like this humble me and make me grateful that I have the privelage of living in the USA.

The way people carry stuff here!! I've see MUCH larger items on MUCH smaller people, but haven't been able to capture it...yet...

Gorgeous scenery...the sky, the water...All breathtaking to lil ol' me that up until last year had never traveled past Arizona...

The view as we drive into a little city...(city is MUCH too large of a word to describe it...TOWN is more like it) that's built INTO the side of a mountain...

I was able to step back and just enjoy the spectaculous-ness (is that a word??? it is now!!) that is a sunset!!

Could life GET any better? (said in my best Chandler-esque voice) :) I got to photograph Steve and Maria's wedding with my very good friend, Timmy of www.whatistimco.com. He's a very talented guy and one that I'm honored to shoot with! :)

So, onto the pictures...

The wedding took place at the GORGEOUS Amelia Island Plantation http://www.aipfl.com/ and yes that's Maria's ring from Tiffany's!!

This little guy was so very tame! While shooting he (she?? can't really figure out how to figure out a turtle's sex???) was eating grass and enjoying life about 2 feet away from us!!

and then we moved onto the golf course..shhh!!! We were quick and left no ummm...divets?? (I think that's the word, correct me if I'm wrong someone!!) :)

Then onto the dock...I big puffy heart this dock...I'm all about leading lines :)

Beachy time! The dunes are gorgeous, but totally protected by the law, so it's illegal to shoot ON the dunes!! But not the dungrass BY the dunes!! :)
